European 112 Day 2016
Let's raise awareness of 112, together...
On 11 February, Europe celebrates the European 112 Day, a day established in 2009 and dedicated to raising awareness of the European emergency number 112.
Member States all over Europe organise communication activities and other events to promote the European Emergency number 112 to their citizens and help spread the message of 112.
Each year, the European Emergency Number Association (EENA) proposes a theme to be highlighted in European countries.
This year, we would like to dedicate European 112 Day to
raising awareness among Erasmus students.
Alarmingly, only 27% of the European citizens are familiar with 112 and would dial it spontaneously in case of an emergency. The European 112 Day is the perfect opportunity to inform students when to call 112 and what to do in case of an emergency situation. After all, today’s students are the future of Europe!
What will EENA do?
Social media campaign: EENA will diffuse information and promotional material, as well as engage in discussions, using the hashtag #112Day2016.
Join us and help us raise awareness of the European emergency number 112.
Photo contest: Join us in the 112 Day 2016 Photo Contest: Raise awareness and get a chance to win one of the prizes!
EENA will run a photo contest on Facebook and Twitter around the theme of “Raising awareness of 112”, marked with the hashtag #ISupport112, from 21 January to 11 February 2016.

Other activities: EENA is preparing more activities, in cooperation with different stakeholders throughout Europe. More details will be published soon on this page.
Would you like to help spread the message?
Then share the material below via your website, social media, and all other networks and channels you find appropriate!
Proper information will allow for students everywhere to protect themselves responsibly and effectively. By educating ourselves and informing our family and friends about the existence of 112 and its proper use, we can actively contribute to a safer future for European citizens!
Thank you for your cooperation!
