112 Days are organised by Finland's rescue services, the Emergency Response Centre Administration, the police, social and health care services and the Border Guard, including search and rescue at sea. 112 Day is celebrated up and down the country on the 11th day of February each year, as it has been every year since 1997.  This year's 112 Day was the 14th in Finland. 2010 events focused on one topic: Everyday Hero.

The main 112 Day event took place in Helsinki's Kamppi Centre. The patrons of 112 Day - Anne Holmlund, Minister of the Interior and Paula Risikko, Minister of Health and Social Services - opened the event at midday.

In Finland, the goal is to make 112 Day the most important and most visible campaign for the various safety actors, aimed at creating citizens able to communicate about everyday dangers, who are trained in dealing with emergencies, and who have a sense of responsibility. Many districts organise 112 Day events. This special day also serves to remind the emergency number itself, and that 112 now works for all EU countries. Information provided includes advice on how to use 112 (when, where, how to call).
