112 Awards Ceremony
112 Awards Ceremony 2010: 8 November 2010, Palais d'Egmont, Brussels
The aim of the 112 Awards Ceremony is to recognise and congratulate individuals and organisations particularly engaged in improving the European emergency number 112.
The 112 Awards were delivered for the first time in 2007. Second 112 Awards Ceremony was held on 3rd June 2008 in Cercle de Lorraine, Brussels and the 3rd one was held on the eve of the European 112 Day (11/2) 2009 in Palais d'Egmont, Brussels.
Every individual and organisation, which show evidence of extraordinary behaviour and/ or results and / or achievements in the selected categories below can submit a testimony and apply for a 112 Award.
The 112 Awards are selected by members of the EENA's Advisory Board and members of the 112 Emergency Services Staff Network.

In 2010, the 112 Awards will be delivered to individuals and organisations in the following categories:
- Outstanding Citizen - will recognise individual(s) (civilian) who have contributed to save a life or several lives by calling 112 or making sure that 112 was called. Emergency services members can also send an application if they are informed of a citizen's extraordinary behaviour.
- Outstanding Education on 112 - will reward organisation(s) or institution(s) that have demonstrated clear results in raising awareness on 112 as the emergency number that can be used all over the EU.
- Outstanding Emergency Call Centre - will reward an emergency call centre that has achieved clear results for citizens' safety.
- Outstanding Emergency Rescue - will be awarded for an emergency rescue involving a call to 112 and an outstanding response from the emergency services. Ideally this case would show the courage of citizens and first-responders as well as the quality of the call-taking. Applicants are invited to provide the emergency call recording in attachment (taking care to ensure conformity with applicable legislation on privacy).
- Outstanding Emergency Service Integration - will reward initiatives that have contributed to a better collaboration and integration between different emergency services such as EMS, Rescue and Police. This award could be awarded for the quality of physical or virtual integration.
- Outstanding National 112 System - will reward national organisation(s) or institution(s) that have implemented an efficient 112 system, considering technical and operational results. Applicants are expected to provide figures showing the impact on citizens' safety.
- Outstanding Political Initiative - will recognise politician(s) who have contributed to a better promotion and/or functioning of 112.
- Outstanding PSAP Initiative - will reward an initiative from PSAPs that have contributed to save more lives and to improve citizens' safety. Applicants should demonstrate that this initiative is unique and has a strong added value for the future of 112.
- Outstanding REACH112 Award - will reward organisation(s) or individual(s) having shown dedication to improve the accessibility of 112 for people with disabilities, in particular with hearing impairment. Applicants should show that they have considered the social and communications issues as well as the right of mobility of the potential users.

To apply for a 112 Award in the 2010 edition, please send your testimony on the form available to download below.
Important: Please read carefully the description of the awards categories and apply only if you are convinced of the relevance of the application. Please do not send an exaggerate number of applications.
Language: English should be used to fill in the form: in order to discuss and assess applications, it will make it easier for pre-selection and selection committees for which English is the common language. If really needed, you can contact us to get help.
