    After an all day working, the only and last remark coming from the French national representative Mr Philippe Nardin was asking the European Commission representatives to take into account only opinions coming from national representatives and not those from other organization like the Brittish Red Cross or EENA. This kind of remark is rather difficult to accept after such a long day of input but is quite revealing...

  • June 2004 - Virgin Express becomes the 1st airline company to inform passengers about the single European emergency call number 112, thanks to the close cooperation between the EENA, Virgin Express, Louis Michel (Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs) and the SCORE consortium. More details ...

  • 14 May 2004 - Visit to the 112 of Avignon (France).
  • 10 May 2004 - EENA participated at the 1st International Consensus meeting on emergency medical response organized by the Italian Associazione Nazionale Infermieri di Area Critica (ANIARTI) in Florence, Italy.

  • 8 May 2004 - Participation at the annual council meeting of the Federation of the EU Fire Officer Associations (FEU) in Luxembourg.
  • 3-6 May 2004 - EENA participated at the workshop on the impact of disaster on the security environment in south-eastern Europe, organized by the regional arms control verification and implementation assistance center (RACVIAC) in Zagreb.
  • 7 April 2004 - EENA introduced a complaint to the European Ombudsman against the European Commission for the way it has not been implementing European legislation in the field of the 112.

  • 14-21 March 2004 - EENA visited the Canary Islands integrated 112 call center.

  • 19 February 2004 - Alain Courtois (Belgian MP) and the EENA organized a meeting on the implementation of the 112 in Belgium with the participation of several companies and organizations interested in this field.

  • 12 January 2004 - EENA introduced a complaint to the European Commission for incorrect implementation of article 26 of the Universal Service Directive by Belgium, Italy,  Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom. The complaint was registered on the 30/1/2004. In parallel EENA wrote to Commissioner Wallström and the Civil Protection Unit of the European Commission about the poor implementation of the 112 in several Member States.

2003
  • 1 December 2003 - EENA organized the First European 1-1-2 Conference and Exhibition in Brussels, Belgium.

  • 31 October - 2 November 2003 - EENA participated in the EU - Civil Protection Workshop on 'Civil Protection Information for Europeans on holidays' held at Chios island, Greece.
  • 31 October 2003 - EENA participated in the Seminar on Consumer Protection: "Maximum Harmonisation : Consumer Detriment or Consumer Benefit ?" organized by EURO COOP - the European Community of Consumer Co-operatives. EENA presented its contribution to the consultation on Services of General Interest (see below).
  • 25 September 2003 - EENA presented the situation of the 112 in the EU at a workshop on the «Safety of Citizens» held in Prague.
  • 15 September 2003 - EENA participated in the consultation launched by the EU on Services of General Interest.
  • 27 June 2003 - EENA's president presented the situation and future prospects of the 112 in the European Union at the workshop «Alerte et information des populations» held by the Haut Comité Francais pour la Defense civile (High French Committee for Civil Defense) in Paris.
  • 28 February 2003 - EENA participated in the consultation launched by the EU on its future strategy for improving public awareness and safety in the face of natural and man-made hazards. You can read the English version of EENA's contribution in the first issue of the 1-1-2 Newsletter.
