The 112 enjoying a wide success at the European Parliament through the 112 Written Declaration

After the launch of the citizens initiative for an efficient 112 available at www.112petition.eu, EENA is now supporting a Written Declaration launched at the EP by Diana Wallis (Vice-President of the EP), Gérard Onesta (Vice-President of the EP), Alejo Vidal-Quadras (Vice-President of the EP), Marc Tarabella (MEP) and Dimitrios Papadimoulis (MEP). This Written Declaration is now enjoying an overwhelming success with 213 MEPs who already signed for a proper implementation of the 112 in the EU. However, EENA welcomes everyone who wants to contribute to the success of the Written Declaration and invites you to send emails to the Members of the European Parliament to get their commitment and signatures. Please send them the following:

"Dear ...,

As a European Citizen, I invite you to consider and sign the Written Declaration 44 on the European Emergency Call Number 112 to contribute to the improvement of this European Service.

Best regards,"

For information: A written declaration is a text of a maximum of 200 words on a matter falling within the European Union's sphere of activities. If the declaration is signed by a majority of the MEPs, it is forwarded to the President, who announces it in plenary.
At the end of the part-session, the declaration is forwarded to the institutions named in the text, together with the names of the signatories. It should be noted that a Written Declaration endorsed proves high political support and will therefore lead to actions undertaken by the European Institutions.
