The 112 Newsletter, Issue 29 - European 112 Day 2010A periodic publication of the . . Dear readers,
On 11 February, the 2nd European 112 Day was celebrated all over Europe. Astonishing events and dissemination activities promoting the knowledge and good use of 112 were held at EU and national level, from Portugal to Finland and from Iceland to Romania. 11/2/2010 is a day that we will not forget! During the last months, the EENA and the 112 Foundation team have been working with its emergency services members all over Europe and tried to contribute to the organisation of national activities. 19 years after the creation of 112 but only a year after the establishment of the European 112 Day, we are proud that it was actively celebrated in 15 countries, with large press coverage in 28 nations (we collected only a sample that gathered already more than 200 articles!). This shows not only the leadership of EU Institutions but also the strong willingness of national and regional emergency services' leaders to publicise the 3 digits that can save lives. This last point was well highlighted during the press conference by two Vice-Presidents and two Members of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 11 February. We thank you for your dedication and for making sure that more and more citizens are made aware of 112. Enjoy your reading!
