Event

1st European Security and Safety Summit

Citizens first!

Under the patronage of Stavros Dimas, Member of the European Commission

with the support of

6th & 7th June 2007 - Brussels Heysel, Belgium

After two successful European 112 Conference and Exhibition in 2003 and in 2004  the 1st European Security and Safety Summit  will take place under the first European edition of Govsec, Law Enforcement and Ready!
Ready! is the Emergency Preparedness and Response Conference and Exposition, dedicated to providing the solutions first responders need to coordinate incident planning and management efforts.
EENA will contribute to this event by providing sessions dedicated to all aspects of emergency telecommunications (112, interoparability and alert systems issues).

In case of accidents or disasters, communications between emergency services, authorities and citizens are essential to minimize consequences.

Modern telecommunications systems should ensure that high quality assistance is offered to citizens in any kind of personal emergencies or major disasters. This is a Europe-wide challenge that governments, health officials, rescue services, law enforcement agencies and the civil society have to meet in close collaboration with the industry.

On the initiative of READY and EENA, this summit will be the first time all European actors in the emergency sector will be able to meet, network and debate about the future solutions for the improving safety and security of citizens in the European Union.

Objectives

  • To engage a real dialogue between all parties involved in emergency telecommunications in Europe
  • To give everyone the opportunity to speak up its position and meet the different parties to enable the debate to go one step forward, in view of establishing future political initiatives and implementations
  • To present the existent technological solutions, as well as funding opportunities for both emergency services and industry
  • To raise the awareness of politicians, the media and citizens across the member states (press conference on Friday, February 9th)

A two days Summit: 6th & 7th June 2007

The summit is an opportunity for all the actors in the emergency (tele)communications to be present via a stand in an exhibition area.

Workshops will be proposed on different themes and the Summit will invite the strategic meetings of ETSI, EMTEL and e-Call.

The Summit will be an extraordinary chance for networking in the European world of emergency solutions and security in general. A lounge zone will be equipped to serve this purpose.

A reception on Wednesday 6th of June

On the fringe of the Summit, a reception will be organised. It will be the opportunity for an award ceremony honouring individuals and partnerships across Europe for dedication or improvement of the emergency (tele)communications.
